Levels

We prefer this year to offer a different ways of forming balanced classes, more based on your choice; so there will not be audition before the workshop, classes will be formed according to your registration.
It's up to the teachers to move some of you to a different level during the first classes in order to create a comfortable learning experience for everybody.
So, please, read the descriptions of each level carefully and pick the classes that best matches your own skills.

Lindy Hop INT

You have quite good control over the basic steps and have the ability to lead or follow a few simple figures as you dance around six months to one year on a regular basis and socially at least once a week. You wish to learn more and improve your skills to become a better social dancer. Dancers in this level will improve their technique, confidence in the basics and will improve their skills in musical changes as well as in some new moves and variations.

Lindy Hop INT/ADV

To join this level you should have confidence and control of the basics and of the leading or following all the basic moves and you’d like to improve the quality and fluidity of your movements and your musicality more than learning more moves. You have been dancing regularly in your local scene and have probably been to some international workshop. Lindy Hop ADV

This track is for you if you have been dancing Lindy hop for some years and have developed your own style as a dancer; your basic is solid and dancing to fast tempos is easy for you, you normally take part in workshops and international festivals. Dancers in this level will improve their skill to adapt to different partners and their different styles, and to improve the communication between the partners.

Lindy Hop ADV Plus

If it seems to you that you’ve been dancing Lindy Hop since you were born, this is your track! Dancers at this level should have a large vocabulary of moves and should be working on how to combine the moves they already know to fit the music and personalize their style. For an advanced class you need to be dancing on a high level for a long time or have joined several competitions, you are able to quickly master new steps and variations, because you already draw on a big repertoire of figures and variations, but you are always up for new challenges. Your goal in this festival is to play with the quality of your movements, improve your improvisational skills, use different levels of musicality, and bring your leading or following to a new level.

Lindy Hop Master

This is an intense track for teachers and super advanced dancers

You can join the Master level if you are a very well-experienced Lindy hopper, if you are a key dancer in your local Swing scene and maybe you teach Lindy Hop classes regularly. You are in the right place if you quickly learn new figures, if you feel comfortable in showing off your technique, skills, style and musicality in front of others.


Authentic Jazz Levels

Authentic Jazz is the Solo swing dance which have many different steps and routines. It’s a great way to gain control of your body and get your feet moving... It’s mandatory for any Lindy Hoppers who want to progress beyond the basics.

Intermediate

This track suits you if you already dance lindy hop, if you know some solo jazz steps and wish to add more basics that you can use in your Lindy or even learn how to dance solo jazz socially. In this track you will learn how to have fun with improvisation and make it your own.

Advanced

In this track you will dig into a handful of different basic solo jazz moves to help build your own solo jazz vocabulary and style. Some Tips&Tricks to experiment and play around with the moves and steps you know that can be applied to solo or partner dancing. In this track your goal is getting yourself more comfortable with improvisation and experimentation to swing music.

Open Level Track

Theme: travel through the Jazz Era

Often we stay in the 40's to take musical inspiration and jazz steps. What if we discover some of the dances in the 10's and 20's that were done to hot jazz? Of what about the flavours of 50's latin jazz and Mambo? In this session we'll dig deeper in a rich variety of jazz music and idioms. We'll get sweaty!
